Pun Bahadur Rana Magar, a beekeeper from Dubung Najung tole has been beekeeping in a traditional hive. It’s been around 35 years since he started beekeeping.
Farmer Rana used to keep 20 hives in bees but when the insects like Malsapro, Aringal, Mainputali etc attacked the hive and ate both bees and honey now there are only 9 hives. Last year he sold honey worth Rs 35,000.
If the farmers could keep the traditional practices of Mudha or Khopa in modern hived, more honey could be produced and income could be increased.
