The traditional method of weaving clothes by hand is still common among Magar community of Nepal. Pabitra Thapa Magar who belong to the Arkhalachhap tole located at Kot durbar ward number 7 Rishing village municipality Tanahun district is continuing the traditional skill of hand weaving which she has learned from her mother since childhood.

Pabitra weaves traditional garments of the Magar community such as necklaces, scarfs, kachad etc from the handloom in her house. Hand knitted garments are in high demand in the country ( Kathmandu. Pokhara, Damauli and in abroad (Hongkong, UK, Singapore, Brunei)

She also teaches her weaving skills to other female sisters.  She has already given training in weaving to the women of Magar society, Khaireni. She said that the training would not only make women independent but also help in the preservation and promotion of traditional knowledge, skills and technology and would also play a role in communicating traditional skills to the new generation.
